Windows xp unimodem

You must specify the appropriate serial port settings when you set up a modem. Most modems attempt to use COM1 by default. Each COM port is assigned a specific set of address variables by default when you set up connections. Highlight the appropriate modem on the Modem page and click Properties. The maximum port speed is defined by the kilobits per second that the modem can support.

Maximum rates are defined primarily by the modem hardware; however, the current public telephone network has an upper limit of 56 Kbps through an analog modem. Port speeds are defined by the standards and features available to them. Multiple modem standards exist to define the various features and bandwidths available. Various models provide different standards levels.

Before you purchase any modem, you should verify that it fits your current needs and meets the appropriate standard. Table-1 illustrates the standards. Select your modem from the Modems tab and click Properties.

When the properties of the modem appear, click the Modem tab. Select the appropriate port speed from the Maximum Port Speed list. With Windows operating systems, an additional subsystem is available to simplify dial-up networking.

Unimodem provides an easy, centralized mechanism for installing and configuring modems. In installing the modem, the wizard enables you to specify configurations included with Windows or to obtain the configuration from disk. I've been a PhoneTray user now for some time and it's well worth the small cost if you get telemarketing calls.

If you email PhoneTray support accessible from the website , they should be able to point you in the right direction. The same website also refers to 'compatible' modems including some USB ones but again I don't think these give 'speakerphone' capabilities, only TAM. Office Office Exchange Server.

Hi, According to your description, the issue might be caused by incompatible driver or device on Windows 7. Friday, August 10, AM. Any other suggestions that will work to actually address the problem will be greatly received! Hi, Thank you for your feedback. Thanks in anticipation. Paul Murphy. Tuesday, August 14, AM. Michael Rakita Traysoft Inc. Wednesday, August 15, PM. Hi Paul, This is again and sorry for the delay due to shift scheduler. Thanks for your time. Thursday, August 16, AM. Dear Kevin, Thank you for your further reply. I wish to scream bloody murder over this! Why am I not surprised that Microsoft has gone quiet - perhaps they fixed it in Windows 8? Saturday, September 1, PM. Hi, I am also having issues with the Unimodem driver and specifically with audio playback on answering machine.

If you can, please post your results with Windows 8. Monday, October 1, PM. Nevermind, i had a chance to test it today on Win8 Pro.

Still, no luck. Everything working incomming call detect, DMTF detect except audio playback:. Seems noone cares about this problem Tuesday, October 2, AM. You're fortunate you've not needed to use the voice messaging functionality on the Conexant modem because thats where the problem shows itself when in TAPI mode.

Although I too have a answer machine capable telephone which cost alot more than this modem , it doesn't offer anwhere near the same level of functionality that this modem SHOULD be capable of if these recent versions of Windows worked correctly to let it, that is. This is pure crap. Wednesday, January 16, AM. Wednesday, January 16, PM. Yes, I updated both firmware and driver. Previously I did not allow the updates. I use very slow dial-up on a BCM 56k. After the BCM update install, my modem went much faster at about 40kbps, however, I lost the Unimodem half-duplex sound driver configuration. After the BCM automatic update, my modem no longer sounds the connection audio as it previously did.

My audio driver is not my issue. The tiny speaker still works in my Modem When I dial-up. Otherwise, the rest of my sound works fine, so I don't think I need an audio driver. What disappeared on my upgrade was my unimodem half-duplex driver, and all else remained the same after the upgrade. Here is what happens. I frequently reinstall my entire OS by formatting my hard drive. After the initial install, and installing the provided Dell drivers, my modem works fine, but at a slower speed.

When I dial-up I hear the dialing through my External Audio Speakers, which I prefer because I have hearing restriction and can hear it better amplified, than through the modem speaker.

When I install the BCM windows update, it speeds up my modem transfer rate, which I like, but it removes my unimodem half-duplex sound driver, which means I can no longer hear my dial-up connection to know all is well.

The sound does still come directly from my modem card, however, because of where my PC is located under my desk, I can barely hear the connection being made, and can not use that sound for diagnostic purposes if I fail to connect.

It helps to hear the connecting to remind me in case the phone line is disconnected or the phone company disconnects and provides their automated voice message on how to restore our service. I just want to be able to still hear my modem amplified through my external speakers without loosing the increased BPS speed that the upgrade provided me.

Not yet tried to use the dell service tag to get Dell Drivers. Don't know how to specify that tag, or if it would provide other drivers than I already downloaded, but will check that next.
