Olympus includes four disposable alkalines in box with the camera, and the manufacturer claims the SP UZ is good for an outlandish exposures with AA alkalines. Note that only alkalines and NiMH rechargeables can used. I used the camera pretty heavily for a bit more than three weeks and I went through three sets of AAs: the included batteries lasted for approximately 70 exposures, the second set Energizer Titanium AAs lasted for about 90 exposures ,and the third set also Energizer Titanium AAs lasted for almost exposures.

Serious shooters looking for that mythical point-and-shoot digicam that adequately replaces a DSLR and a bag of lenses could do much worse than the SP UZ.
